It is essential that all employees who act as Health and Safety Representatives in their workplace have the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively perform their duties and contribute to a safe working environment. 
 
Health and Safety Representatives play a key role in identifying risks, liaising with employers, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Their role includes addressing issues such as physical risks, workplace ergonomics, mental health, and general wellbeing. 
 
Employers are required to: 
Ensure that Health and Safety Representatives are trained to evaluate workplace hazards, promote safety awareness, and assist in developing appropriate control measures. 
 
The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 outlines the duties of employers and employees and highlights the importance of worker representation in maintaining health and safety standards in the workplace.

Course Objectives: 
The Health and Safety Representative training equips delegates with the knowledge and skills needed to fulfil their role as effective safety representatives in the workplace. 
Upon completion of the course, delegates will be able to: 
Explain the legal framework governing workplace health and safety. 
Identify common workplace hazards and assess associated risks. 
Understand the role and responsibilities of a Health and Safety Representative. 
Effectively communicate and consult with employers and employees regarding safety matters. 
Assist in the development and implementation of safety measures 
Theoretical component: 
 
Overview of health and safety legislation and guidelines. 
Role and responsibilities of Health and Safety Representatives. 
Identifying workplace hazards and assessing risks. 
Understanding accident and incident reporting procedures. 
Introduction to workplace ergonomics and musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) prevention. 
Strategies for promoting a positive safety culture 
Practical Component: 
 
Conduct a basic workplace hazard assessment. 
Develop and present recommendations for improving safety measures. 
Participate in role-play scenarios to practice consultation and communication skills. 
Apply theoretical knowledge to resolve common health and safety challenges in a practical setting.
