It is essential that all employees who act as Health and Safety Representatives in their workplace have the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively perform their duties and contribute to a safe working environment.
Health and Safety Representatives play a key role in identifying risks, liaising with employers, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Their role includes addressing issues such as physical risks, workplace ergonomics, mental health, and general wellbeing.
Employers are required to:
Ensure that Health and Safety Representatives are trained to evaluate workplace hazards, promote safety awareness, and assist in developing appropriate control measures.
The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 outlines the duties of employers and employees and highlights the importance of worker representation in maintaining health and safety standards in the workplace.
