Candidate Requirements

A good understanding of both oral and written English. Previous experience as Fire Warden / Fire Fighter.

Certification and Accreditation

5 year ISC Certification.

Successful Candidates will receive an Irish Safety Centre Certificate of Successful Completion.

Learning Outcomes

Candidates will learn the necessary skills and knowledge to instruct people in the skills of being an effective Fire Warden (s) / Fire Marshal (s).

We will supply a USB Memory Stick to all trainees containing all the materials required for them to deliver their own Fire Warden / Marshal Training. This will include:

• Course Training Pack for delegates

• Trainee Theory and Practical Assessment Sheets

• Case Studies and photos / videos

• H.S.A. links and content for Health & Safety Legislation in Ireland

• Trainee Certificate Template

Modules Covered in this training

Module 1 – Fire Safety/Science

• Legislation – 2005 Act, 1981 & 2003 Fire Services Act, HSA, HIQA

• Fire Statistics & Case Studies

• Nature and behaviour of fire.

• Nature and behaviour of smoke

• Fire prevention & management

• Behaviour Issues of people regarding fire alarms & emergencies.

• Classes of fire

Module 2 – Classes of Fire and Fire Extinguishing Methods & Equipment

• Classes of Fire

• Fire Detection and Alarms (Overview)

• Inspection, Maintenance and Discharge of Fire Extinguishers

• Participants will then be trained in the practical use of extinguishers

• Fire Blankets

• Fire Hose Reels

Module 3 – Role of Fire Warden & Emergency Procedures

• Pre–fire / post-fire duties of the Fire Warden

• General Emergency Plans and Evacuation Procedures

• Design and documentation of Fire Evacuation Plans & Records.

• Identifying and Managing Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPS).

• Fire Drills – Running, Management & Evaluation of Fire Drills.

Each participant will give a practical demonstration in the use of a foam and CO2 fire extinguisher if doing the Fire Extinguisher practical training.
