Introduction:
It is essential that all employees who habitually use display screen equipment (VDUs) as a significant part of their normal work, have the equipment and knowledge to work safely.
By VDU/DSE we mean the complete workstation (display, computer, mouse, chair and ancillary equipment)
Employers are required to evaluate health and safety at workstations with particular reference to eyesight, physical difficulties and mental stress. Appropriate steps must be taken to control any risks identified.
The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work, (General Application) Regulations 2007, Chapter 5 of Part 2, outline the requirements that must be adhered to in relation to Display Screen Equipment.

Course Objectives:
The VDU Assessor training provides delegates with the knowledge and skills to be able to assess Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Workstations and advise peers in relation to the correct set up of their workstations.
On completion of VDU Assessor delegates will be able to:
Explain the legislation that applies to Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
Explain risks on poor Display Screen Equipment (DSE) set up
Explain and Identify the hazards associated with Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
Carry out a Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Workstation Assessment
Theoretical component:
Understand office equipment terminology
Describe the legal requirements for display screen equipment set up
Describe what is a musculoskeletal disorder (MSD)
Outline the importance of ergonomics
Identify & explain ergonomics risk factors
Practical
Apply the learning’s to the office environment to improve safety, comfort and efficiency
