VDU / DSE Assessments
VDU Risk Assessments
VDU Risk Assessments / Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Risk Assessments are a legal requirement under the “2007 General Application Regulations”.
Employers are required to undertake DSE Assessments on all computer workstations where an employee spends more than 1 hour per day on a computer.
Irish Safety Centre will carry out risk assessments at each employee’s workstation observing the employee in their normal work environment.
The assessment looks at the workstation, screen, chair, position of the desk in relation to the windows, the lighting in the work area to identify if the employee is/is not experiencing any pain or discomfort while using the equipment.
Where adjustments to the workstation can be made to reduce risks, they will be made immediately and these changes recorded. The assessor will advise why those adjustments are required and the personal benefits. Other recommendations are noted in the risk assessment reports. Each employee receives individual feedback and training in workstation set up. Employees are required to sign a document acknowledging their receipt and understanding of the assessment, recommendations and future requirements.
Individual assessments take approximately 20-30mins providing there are no underlying conditions disclosed during the assessment.
