Introduction:
Working at heights is one of the leading causes of workplace injuries and fatalities. This training course is designed to provide participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills to work safely at heights. The course aligns with Ireland’s safety legislation, specifically the Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 (S.I. No. 299 of 2007), particularly Part 4: Work at Height.

Employers are required to:
Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards associated with working at heights.
Ensure that employees are properly trained and competent in working safely at heights.
Provide suitable equipment, such as fall protection systems, and ensure it is regularly inspected and maintained.
Comply with Regulation 94 of the General Application Regulations, which outlines the requirements for safe work at height practices
Who Should Attend?
Employees who are required to work at heights as part of their daily job, such as construction workers, roofers, maintenance personnel, and engineers.
Supervisors and managers overseeing tasks involving working at height.
Anyone responsible for selecting, inspecting, or maintaining height safety equipment.
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course, participants will:
Understand the risks and hazards associated with working at heights.
Be familiar with Ireland’s legislative requirements for working at heights.
Learn how to select and use appropriate fall protection systems and equipment.
Develop practical skills to perform tasks safely at heights while minimizing risk.
Theoretical component:
Overview of Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, with a focus on Part 4.
Identifying hazards and assessing risks associated with working at height.
Overview of fall prevention and fall arrest systems, including harnesses, lanyards, and anchor points.
Responsibilities of employers and employees under Irish safety legislation.
Safe use, inspection and maintenance of height safety equipment.
Practical Component:
Hands-on practice in using and inspecting fall protection systems, such as harnesses and lanyards.
Techniques for safe climbing, positioning, and working on ladders, scaffolds, and elevated platforms.
Emergency response scenarios, including fall recovery and rescue procedures.
Evaluation and feedback to ensure participant competency in safe working at height practices.
